Tiny house, Farmhouse style!

So Tiny Houses are all the rage these days…but WHAT IF you got the chance to deck one out in FARMHOUSE STYLE? I jumped at the chance to be involved in the design/decorating of this tiny house for a very special client…and just in case you didn’t get to come and tour it last weekend, I thought I’d share a few pics!

We decided to keep the exterior classic & rustic with a beautiful cedar shake siding…that way it will blend in beautifully with its surroundings here in the Pacific Northwest.

This tiny home is built on a 30′ trailer, so it can be moved easily. It’s just under 400 square feet, including the loft, a true tiny treasure! The builder was Jim Ash, of Daystar Tiny Homes. Ready to step inside?

There are always hiccups in any project, and this one was no different. The loveseat we originally ordered was too large for the space when it arrived, so the homeowner will be ordering a custom size. We quickly ordered this darling little settee in time for the open house, but a slightly larger piece will be better for everyday life. 🙂 The custom coffee table was made by Garden Gallery Iron Works, along with the bar stools (above left)…and so many other fun touches that you’ll see in a minute! Most of the decor you’ll see is from Garden Gallery as well…oh, we had so much fun shopping for the finishing touches!

To the right of the entry is the bathroom, including a pretty little vanity and shower. (below) The barn door is a great space-saver, but also reinforces our farmhouse look! I love the stained door, set off by lots of white shiplap walls.

There’s a little staircase to the right of the above pic, leading to the loft. The cozy loft area will be used as a guest room for the homeowner’s granddaughters and friends as well. (You can see a view up to the loft below!)

How cute is that loft space?? Garden Gallery Iron Works also made the beautiful railing…such an amazing addition!

Let’s talk about this darling kitchen & eating area!

This kitchen features a full size range (I mean, you HAVE to be able to make cookies, right?), a full size refrigerator, and a beautiful copper farm sink. There are more cabinets to be added above the counter on the right side, but you know how things go with construction. Things always take longer than planned! You may notice the fridge is up on a platform. Any guesses why? To accommodate for the wheel well! This home is built on a trailer, remember? This made the middle of the home a perfect spot for the kitchen, as most of the wheel well is covered by cabinetry. 🙂

Here’s a closer look at the sink (above)…so gorgeous! The countertops are a Corian-type material (provided by Pacific NW Marble & Granite), much lighter than granite or quartz…perfect for a tiny home!

This set of cabinets will be kept open, to keep things feeling “airy” (but will be painted white when finished). The high ceilings in this home really help it seem larger than it is…plus, great opportunities to accessorize! 🙂

This little bar area is a fun dining space.

Let’s go see the master bedroom, shall we?

Gah! This beautiful bed is a custom design by Garden Gallery Iron Works. So unique, and completely perfect for this sweet homeowner. And did you spy the little nightstand? It was found literally on the side of the road. My hubby repaired it, and I gave it a fresh coat of paint & pretty hardware. It’s just the right size for this bedroom.

This bookcase, to the left of the bed, will be a great spot to display books and family photos.

This pretty mirror will reflect light from the patio door behind me (the tiny house is currently sitting inside of a big shop until it’s completed…just imagine how bright it will be when sunshine pours in the windows!)…and have you noticed the stained beams running across the ceiling? LOVE!

Work continues on the house this week, and after that? This fun, bubbly homeowner will get to enjoy her home sweet home! Here we are at Ashley Furniture Home Store in Salem, Oregon, furniture shopping for the project! (below)
