Reimagining a Guest Room

Oh I had the most fun yesterday. “Install” day is always enjoyable…seeing a project come together, hoping there are enough accessories, watching things take shape and become the client’s vision. Well this project was a guest bedroom. The client’s daughter recently went off to college, taking most everything with her, so it was pretty much a blank slate. With company scheduled to visit over the Thanksgiving holiday, it became crunch time! Our mission? To create a fresh, cozy, rustic-farmhousey look that would welcome friends and family and make them feel right at home.

Here’s a little before and after for you. We took the walls a little lighter, using Sherwin Williams “Urban Putty.” The rest was just filling the room with COZY! (My favorite!) The color scheme was inspired by the rug…you’ll see that in a second. I am loving this fresh blue! I hear it’s the color of the year. This beautiful “blessed” pillow, from bowsandburlap.com is the perfect welcoming touch on the bed, and this clock? Hello, statement piece! If you’re local, this big beauty came from Real Deals.

Ok, just LOOK. AT. THIS. RUG. It’s a little dark in this pic, but the fresh blue and green is just, well….unexpected! Especially for this neutral-loving girl! But, wow. The life it brought to the room was just amazing. A gorgeous burlap ruffled bedskirt is on the way, but sadly it hadn’t arrived yet. That final piece will really finish off the look and complete the cozy feel!

This little built-in desk became a great opportunity for some cute accessories and family memories. Texture was the key to this little alcove…the baskets, the burlap memo board, a pretty mercury glass candle holder-turned-vase, the shiny ceramic lamp, and of COURSE, a chalkboard…so fun.

Still need a fun little chair at the desk, but we’re well on our way to a welcoming space for holiday guests. And the best part? Happy clients. (Oh, and the commute wasn’t bad either…just look at this view! I had to snap a pic on my way home!

Are you kidding me? Seriously. The back roads of Oregon are just unbelievably stunning. A beautiful drive, wonderful clients, a gorgeous home, and a cozy new guest room. Now THAT’S a great Friday.
